Dear Member,

Strathkinness won a gold award in the Best Kept Small Village Section at the 2017 Beautiful Fife Award Ceremony last night. We were also awarded a special Judges Award for Environmental Responsibility. Congratulations to Liz Bilson, Ann Mudie, Brenda Lawrie and their team of “adopt a planter” helpers who worked so hard to prepare and maintain the planters. It is tremendous recognition for their efforts on behalf of our community. The judges rated the Community Garden and Orchard as one of the best that they had seen and were very impressed by the overall appearance of the village and by our efforts to have more sustainable floral displays.

APPLE DAY:- We will be holding our Annual Apple Day at our Community Orchard on Sunday 8th October between 1.30 and 4pm. We shall be picking the crop and making apple juice. Please bring along containers if you want some delicious juice. This year’s harvest looks pretty good so we should have a good vintage! We shall also have a range of jams and preserves for sale.

BISHOP’S WOOD:- As part of our woodland project we are trying to assess how many villagers would like to obtain wood fuel from the woodland. If you are interested in participating in our scheme, please register your interest with any of the trustees as soon as possible.

GARDENING CLUB:- The Club meets regularly on a Sunday morning and we appreciate it is not convenient for everyone, so we are extending our activities to a Tuesday afternoon to allow anyone interested to come along and assist in maintaining this remarkable community venture.

Best regards from your Trustees.
