22nd July 2016 update.

Dear Member,

We now have our allocation of complimentary tickets for the Beechgrove Garden Roadshow to be recorded in the Village Hall on Thursday  29th September. Anyone wishing to reserve a ticket for the show should contact me by e-mail at or give me a call on 850649 as soon as possible. Tickets will be strictly limited.  Some of you have already booked a ticket. The trustees are offering the first tranche of tickets to Trust members and villagers,  so please get in touch if you wish us to reserve a ticket, before we advertise them further afield. This opportunity to host Scotland’s very popular gardening show is a real feather in the cap for our community. Don’t miss this chance of a lifetime to take part in the programme!  Book now!

The Beautiful Fife Judging took place on Wednesday afternoon. The two judges seemed pretty impressed by their tour. We were very fortunate that as they arrived the sun came out and we escaped the stormy weather. Special thanks are due to the school children, Emma, Niamh and Fionnlagh, for their eloquent demonstration of the work they do in school garden and at their allotment in the Community Garden. The judges noted the  overall tidy appearance of the village , unfortunately slightly marred by the dog fouling deposit that a careless dog-owner left on the pavement in Bonfield Road! Thanks to all who took the trouble to assist in making the village look at it’s best. We shall get the result of the competition during September.

Bob Bilson is clearing out the polytunnel around the first two weeks in August and preparing it for sowing winter and spring plants. If anyone would like to participate in the project please contact Bob on

Bob has also set up a Twitter page StrathkinnessGarden@bilsonrobert1 , highlighting the work we do at the Community Garden so please take the opportunity to join him on Twitter and keep up with our progress.

Just a reminder to those of you who have not yet paid your annual subscriptions of £5, to let us

know if you no longer wish to be a member, to allow us to keep the register up to date.

Best regards from your Trustees.

Bob Bilson.
